Stefanie + Marcus’ Wanderlove Story
Her Name: Stefanie Kos
Her Birthplace: Dordrecht, Netherlands
His Name: Marcus Curtis
His Birthplace: Kelowna, BC
Where did you meet? Victoria, BC, Canada
Describe the very first time you met:
Stef: We were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. Marcus picked me up from my house and we went for drinks at a restaurant downtown. It was the best first date I ever had.
Marcus: I have only been on a few true blind dates all of which have been… interesting to say the least. When I first saw Stef in person I felt like I was playing way above my league- she was breathtakingly beautiful.
Can you identify specific decisions or life events that brought you together?
Stef: Ironically, we didn’t meet through a dating app but it was a dating app that brought us together because our mutual friend saw Marcus scrolling through Tinder and said, “Well I have this blonde single friend you’d like…”
Marcus: Coming home from traveling I made a buddy at my local gym and he helped me get into my job at the time. That job lead me to Shannon (our mutual friend) who ended up setting me up with Stef, after she caught me shamelessly right swiping through tinder, ha-ha!
What were your first impressions of each other and what initially attracted you?
Stef: I creeped him on facebook and thought I was going to be boring for him because all of his facebook pictures were of him partying. I wasn’t really expecting too much but I thought, oh well… what do I have to loose? And I soon as I got in the car I was like, “Oh he is attractive!” haha.
Marcus: I was 100% convinced she was way too far out of my league. She laughed at my jokes – that’s an instant winner in my book.
As you saw more of each other, what really made you fall in love?
Stef: I think we both noticed we had a deep connection with each other. Almost like we had met before in a different life or something. We had super intense and deep conversations as well as having this amazing connection with each other.
Marcus: She allows me to continue to wear socks and sandals, sweatpants, hoodies with zero compromise. That is love. Not diamond rings or wedding vows. She, Stefanie Kos, a Blanche MacDonald Fashion School student allows her model/actor boyfriend to accompany her out and about in my socks & sandals, sweatpants and hoodies. I didn’t think such love existed.
Did your love face any big challenges? Any differences you had to work through?
Stef: We broke up for a month after dating for about 4 months or so. We worked through it because we realized that what we have is good and we don’t want to loose it.
Marcus: What to watch on Netflix is the cause of most fights.
How do the places you have been together help define or shape your relationship?
Stef: It’s mostly the road trips we have taken. We tend to talk a lot during those driving times and conversation becomes endless.
Marcus: I’m not stuck taking selfies anymore, finally someone can take a well-framed photo of me at my scenic route stops.
Are there any locations that are special to you as a couple?
Italian Bakery, baked goods need no description. Every Sunday we try and walk our pupperoni Melo to the Italian Bakery near our house as a little family tradition.
Do you see your location changing in the future?
Stef: Perhaps. Victoria is quite an expensive city to live in and we are both travel junkies so, we might just end up in a different location.
Marcus: Humans aren’t trees, I haven’t planted roots anywhere and I do not intend to start now.
Describe your style as a couple:
Comfy mostly. Stef personally likes to dress up for nice occasions. Marcus would rather spend his days in sweatpants haha.
What interests or passions do you share?
We both like being active and traveling. We love our dog more than anything. It’s our baby.
Anything else I should know about you two?
Marcus: My dog has more followers on Instagram than my own personal account, and it bugs me more than it should.
