2017 was an amazing year! I spent January and February in Houston and Las Vegas and then, using Houston as my base for the first half of the year, I took wonderful road trips to the east coast in March, May and June. I spent most of those trips in North & South Carolina and Virginia but I visited everything from Atlanta, GA to Cape May, NJ.
In June, we packed up the RV and travel trailer and headed to Colorado to follow the Rocky Mountains up to Canada, hitting all of my favorite national parks on the way. This was my first time in Glacier National Park, Montana and the famed Going to the Sun Road did not disappoint! From there, we spent some time around Calgary, Alberta before checking off another huge bucket list item: Banff National Park! Afterwards, we cut over to the west coast and spent a fabulous 2 months in Seattle and on the Olympic Peninsula (my favorite place on earth). September brought a great week on Vancouver Island for a photography workshop before we headed south to Portland, OR. We had to change our Oregon plans due to the Columbia River Gorge fires so, after brief 2 weeks, we hopped down to Napa Valley, CA. We spent all of October exploring California and running from wildfires. From waking up in Santa Rosa trapped by wildfires to surviving the insane LA heat wave without a generator (no AC or power) California was full of challenges. I ended the month with a round trip from LA to Williamsburg, Virginia to spend a little more time in the east before heading home to Houston for the holidays.
Along all of these roads, so many new friends were made and I had the privilege of hearing about so many couples’ Wanderlove stories. To celebrate that shining tapestry of love, I’ve gathered some highlights from the year. I absolutely cannot wait to see what unwritten adventures are in store for 2018.
